In this series, I have photographed the director of the Kimbell Art Museum in front of some of my favorite paintings at the Kimbell.

Around the world, museum directors, together with museum boards and curators, shape and guide our cultural institutions, guarding and interpreting the cultural heritage for current and future generations. Museum directors are often photographed in suits, with arms crossed, in poses that communicate stability and trustworthiness. But while a museum director’s job may be that of safekeeping, and while museums themselves may act as safe havens for art, the art itself is never born of safety or stability.
