At the 2013 Fort Worth Rodeo, I studied motion and motion blur and tried to capture in each image some essence of speed and energy. Although I have always admired the photographs of Eadweard Muybridge and Harold Edgerton, when looking at my photographs I think not so much of Muybridge or Edgerton but of the Italian Futurists, of Umberto Boccioni’s sculpture Unique Forms of Continuity in Space or Giacomo Balla’s painting Dynamism of a Dog on a Leash.
